Septic Tank Pumping

Septic Tank Pumping - routine cleaning/pumping of septic tanks should be done at a minimum of two or three year increments. Good maintenance practice is key to keeping a septic system in great working condition. A licensed and insured sludge handler should be hired to remove the waste from a tank and then dispose of the waste in a proper legal way. Septic Pumping & Maintenance by Cody Young is here to take care of any and all of your septic tank needs.

How frequently you should have your system pumped depends on a number of factors:

1) The size of your tank.
2) How many people use your tank.
3) If someone is taking a lot of medication, that can affect the good bacteria in your tank. You don't want to harm your "good" germs.
4) If washing machines, water softeners, garbage disposals, or any other gray-water or wastewater producing appliances are in use.

Most septic tanks should be pumped every 1 to 3 years on average. Solids must be pumped out of the tank to ensure they aren't carried out into your drainfield and clog it. Clogging can at worst cause a system failure and at best, the system functions poorly - both scenarios are to be avoided.

Common signs of failure include surface or standing water in the leaching/drainfield area, odors or slow draining from sinks and toilets. Also lush vegetation and unusual grass growth in drainfield area or odor and/or slow draining from household fixtures. Last but not least: sewage backing up into your home or workplace!

All of these issues can be avoided with proper maintenance and pumping of your septic tank.
